Maryland's New Smoke Alarm Law Bring Many Questions


On January 1, 2018 a new law went go into effect that requires the replacement of battery-only operated smoke alarms with units with a sealed 10 year lithium-ion battery smoke alarms with a silence/hush button feature. This law is a transition away from the use of 9-volt battery-operated smoke alarms to achieve more reliable smoke alarm coverage as possible in older dwellings.
