UL Joins "Close Your Door"

You probably have noticed over the last couple of weeks a lot of social media posts regarding the "Close Your Door" efforts put forth by fire prevention agencies. We are standing right along with other agencies including Underwriters Laboratory (UL) to stress the importance of closing your bedroom doors, in particularly, at night. The "close your door" campaign is designed to show you how a closed door can afford you time to escape from the effects of a fire as it will slow smoke spread as well as showing the effect of closed doors on fire dynamics. One of the three components needed to sustain fire is oxygen. Once the oxygen is removed from the "Fire Tetrahedron" or "Fire Triangle" as well known, the fire self-extinguishes. This important factor is why it is important for closed doors, as they will help "suffocate" the fire.
